poll of great importance

My paid account is expiring in a few days, and so before I lose the ability to make polls, I would like to present to you a scenario!

Let us say that you are cooking some sort of thing which involves butter 1. Let us further say that you are cooking only for yourself- no one is going to eat this food but you. You turn your back on the butter for one damn minute, and when you turn around, your cat2 has begun to lick it!

This poll is anonymous.

Eh, it's just cat spit. Just use the butter.

I wouldn't use the butter raw (like on toast) but if it was going to be cooked, I'd just use it.
5 (25.0%)

Scrape off the bit that the cat licked, and then use the butter.
14 (70.0%)

Trash the whole stick- it could have licked the whole thing while you weren't looking! YOU JUST DON'T KNOW.
0 (0.0%)

Just give up, order out, and let the cat eat the rest of the butter. (not recommended!)
0 (0.0%)

I have some other terribly creative reaction that I may expand upon in comments.

1. If you do not eat butter, feel free to imagine the butter-like item of your choice.
2. If you do not have a cat, you can imagine one, or replace it with the animal of your choice. Although I am given to understand that a dog licking your butter would make the rest of the poll moot, as there would probably not be much left.

Having cohabited with dogs, cat spit seems positively antiseptic.

(Although I understand it's the source of cat allergies, so maybe I'd go into anaphylaxis if I ingested it?)

I try to avoid eating in sight of my rats, because they like to snatch and grab anything tasty, but when I do I'm pretty sure to end up with food that a rat bit a piece out of, while I wrestled the rest away from it. However they don't smell out of their mouths and they don't slobber, so it has little impact on the food (beyond the psychological). I probably wouldn't do the same with a dog.
