I found your journal through page_a_day and was curious what book you were referring to in your comment on the check-in post. I was pretty surprised to find it was The Stand because I'm the only person I know in real life who couldn't finish it, it annoyed me too much!
My irritation was mainly with the two characters I found most intriguing turning into evil stereotypes for no good reason, mind. I didn't notice that much race-or-gender-fail when I went through it, and now I think back on it, it's so obvious that I'm rather embarrassed (even if this was a while before RaceFail raised awareness)....
Sorry if this comment came out of nowhere; like I said, I am just surprised, and wanted to say something about it. I wish you good luck with your wordcount goal. :D
