I really don't want the alternate universe to collapse! I want Ben to be able to be a dorky history teacher (are he and alt!Rousseau going to hook up? omg do not know if I want!), and Jack to be a not-horrible dad (although still a tool. Note to Jack (*cough*andthelostwriters*cough*) people are not broken cars, you do not 'fix' them), and Miles and Sawyer to be BFF buddy cops, and Alex, Rousseau, Sayid, Locke, Sun and Jin to be alive. Just- if the alternate universe doesn't stay in *some* form, why did it exist at all, narratively?
Except- if the island being destroyed is Bad, as it seems to be since Smokey wants to do it, why didn't that do something bad in the alternate universe? It seems like the alternate universe shows that the Island really *doesn't* need to be protected, which means that everyone died for nothing and Jacob is a huge jerk- unless, of course, in the finale, they show that the alternate universe is falling apart or something. Which. Do not want! CONFLICTED.

Also, why would Hurley want to bring back that other universe? Libby's dead, after all.

I dunno, I feel like the pacing has been off a little this season. But hey, two and a half hours is a movie's worth of time, so hopefully they'll pull it off. Although I half suspect it'll be Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse sitting in front of a fireplace for two and a half hours. doing something like this.
